THE Old Unicorn in Pittenweem is like a revitalising breath of fresh, tangy sea air – and taking in its jaunty, red, pan-tiled roof and exquisitely fashioned inner courtyard garden, you could easily see this traditional two-bedroomed cottage in a village on the Mediterranean instead of the east coast of Scotland.

However, the undoubted star of this home is the colourful courtyard, which sports a tiled base, shady seating/dining area, and cobalt blue window dressings, a vibrant contrast to the red roofs.
Curiously named, as the only other ‘old Unicorn’ is the 200-year-old Dundee-based HMS Unicorn, Scotland’s only surviving wooden warship – The Old Unicorn is picture perfect and ready to move into as either a permanent home or a weekend/holiday haven.
