Malky Mackay has been named as sporting director for Hibs, a new role formed in the wake of Nick Montgomery's dismissal on Tuesday, May 14.
An ex-coach and player at both club and national level, Mackay's new directorial post is his first position of employment since managing Scottish Premiership club, Ross County between May 2021 through November 2023.
As sporting director, Mackay will oversee Hibs' overall football operation, including the club's academy and, indeed, the appointment of the Easter Road side's next manager.

Malky Mackay Ross County
Appointed in May 2021, Mackay led Ross County to a top-six finish in the Scottish Premiership. The following year, Ross County finished 11th in Scotland's top tier, beating Partick Thistle in a penalty-kick playoff to avoid relegation.
Following a nine -game winless run in the opening stretch of the 2023/24 campaign, Mackay was dismissed as manager of Ross County in November 2023.

Malky Mackay Scotland
As a player, Mackay made his international debut for Scotland in 2004 aged 32 years old, accruing five caps under then manager Walter Smith.
In December 2016, Mackay was appointed performance director at the Scottish Football Association with a focus on overseeing youth development.
During this time, Mackay was appointed caretaker manager for one game (a 1-0 defeat to the Netherlands on November 9, 2017) between the full-time tenures of Gordon Strachan and Alex McLeish.
Mackay resigned as performance director at the SFA in November 2020.

After taking over from the outgoing Brendan Rodgers in 2009, Mackay spent two years as manager of Watford before signing a three-year deal with Cardiff in the summer of 2011.
In 2013, Mackay led the club to promotion to the English Premiership and was named the LMA Championship Manager of the Year. During the 2013/14 season, however, Cardiff owner Vincent Tan became concerned with Mackay's management and in December 2013 is said to have told the manager to resign or be dismissed.
In the meantime, a misconduct investigation into Mackay and Cardiff sporting director Iain Moody was launched by the FA, alleging the pair had exchanged offensive text messages, with allegations of sexism, racism and homophobia inclusive.
