Police in the Scottish Borders are appealing to the public to check their outbuildings and land in the search for missing 86-year-old James (Jim) Cockburn.

James was last seen around 11am on Thursday in Town Yetholm.

He is described as 6ft, muscular build with broad shoulders, grey thinning hair and is clean shaven.

Jim was last seen wearing a blue checked shirt and grey jogging bottoms.

It is believed he has travelled using his red Ford Fiesta, registration ET18 XFO.

Inspector Rachel Campbell, from Melrose Police Station, said: “We are really seeking public help here due to the rural location and complex road network, as well as being close to the Border with Northumberland.

"We are asking the public to check their outbuildings and sheds and landowners to check field boundaries. We would also like to see Ring doorbell and dash-cam footage in the area of Town Yetholm.

"If you're out in the area this weekend, please keep the search for Jim in mind."

If you have seen Jim or his car, or have any information on his whereabouts, please call police on 101, quoting incident number 3837 of 29 June, 2023.
