The stickers, some of which say 'white zone', have been found around Glasgow Green and the River Clyde and are in line with reports of increased racism around the country in the wake of Britain voting to leave the European Union.

They promote a group called National Action, a Neo-Nazi youth movement that deploy material that has been described as "brutally racist".

The Herald:

Twitter user @Eeyinnotyouwin Tweeted a photo of the offensive stickers.

He wrote: "Neo-Nazi stickers have gone up all around the Clyde and Glasgow Green in the last few days. This breaks my heart."

La Pasionaria, a statue on Glasgow's Broomielaw that commemorates the Scottish volunteers who died fighting fascism in the Spanish Civil War, was defaced by the stickers.

The Herald:

Police had yesterday sent officers to one of the areas were the stickers were found.

Local people have responded with promises to take the stickers down and replace them with pro-LGBT and pro-refugee messages.
