HENRY DONALD GORDON. Formerly Lecturer in Modern History at the University of Glasgow. Peacefully, after a short illness on 15th April 2018. Much loved by Elspeth, Damian and Ornella, Zara and Dug, Nina and Elliot. Don will be sadly missed by them and by a circle of friends, so many of whom have said what a privilege it was to have known him. Family funeral to respect his wishes.

My dear Elspeth,
I was deeply distressed to see the notice of Don’s death. It is some time since last I saw him but I will always recall with affection the happy hours I spent in his company. Originally I knew him as my tutor in Modern History and later as a sympathetic and helpful colleague; throughout, I looked upon him as a valued friend. I will miss him very much. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. Ronnie (Nicolson).
