Amen Corner at the west end of Paternoster Row, London, was where the Monks finished the Pater Noster on Corpus Christi Day as they proceeded to St Paul's Cathedral. They began in Paternoster Row with the Lord's Prayer in Latin, which continued to the end of the street, then said Amen at the corner. It was destroyed in an air raid on December 1940.

Impatient about Rangers or simply a realist?
Doug Eadie (Fans With Laptops, April 8) accuses me of being narrow in outlook, then focuses on a slight improvement this year against rapidly declining opponents. He says I'm impatient. I've been patient at Ibrox for about 55 years, so I understand troughs and peaks.

All I want is one sign that Walter Smith is committed to modern, technical, skillful, attacking football. Just one. Even the hapless Strachan made signings that everyone felt looked the part, although they let him down.

Walter Smith's Rangers look just like his Scotland and Everton teams, and not a lot different from the team that bottled 10-in-a-row against a distinctly average Celtic.

Could Doug name three players, available under our budget, and willing to play in Scotland, who would improve the present side? And does he believe we will get them, or is it all part of the annual season ticket sale hype that has conned us before?

How can super sub' Robson be nominated?
Fine player though he is, is it not strange that Barry Robson should be nominated for Player of the Year even though his own club manager regards him as a fringe player, used as an occasional substitute, for his own team?

Spitting mad over Wagner's behaviour
I was disgusted (again) to see Johnston Wagner, winner of The Houston Open, expectorating all over the place. The TV provider showed off their state-of-the-art control centre, but alas no one capable of editing out this horrid performance. In over 60 years I don't think I have ever seen anyone spitting on the greens in Troon except Woods and others at The Open.
