FROM NOW…

1. John Sessions In Conversation (GFT, February 22, 4pm) He is, as you'd expect, incredibly entertaining and tells wonderful anecdotes. And then, when you start to look into what he's been in - The Good Shepherd, directed by Robert De Niro; Gangs Of New York, directed by Martin Scorsese; The Bounty with Mel Gibson and Anthony Hopkins; The Last Station with Christopher Plummer and Helen Mirren - you just think 'Wow, there's lots to talk about here.'"

2. Admiral Fallow (pictured left): We Are Ten (Old Fruitmarket, March 1, 8pm) I haven't heard what they've composed for the occasion yet but I'm sure it will be fantastic.

3. The Quispe Girls (Cineworld, February 23, 9pm; February 24, 3.15pm) "Chilean films find a way of addressing their country's history and identity and recent past in films that are very accessible and universal. This is a roughly true story of events during the Pinochet time and how they affected ordinary people when there was such despair in the country.

4. Love Affair (GFT, February 27, 11am) Because it's Charles Boyer and Irene Dunne and it's the wellspring from which An Affair To Remember and Sleepless In Seattle and so many other things flow.

5. The Tale Of Iya (GFT, March 2, 1.45pm) It's stunningly beautiful, a UK premiere and the director [Tetsuichiro Tsuta] is coming. It was at Tokyo and got some amazing reviews.

AND FROM THEN…

1. Bertrand Tavernier (2012) Bertrand Tavernier loves Glasgow and a packed screening of Death Watch confirmed that Glasgow loves him back.

2. John Sayles (2008) A real hero of independent, uncompromising filmmaking who never disappoints and who was so generous with his time.

3. James Earl Jones (2010) Hollywood and Broadway royalty, and we could not have asked for a more humble and endearing guest. "Is that piper really for me?" he asked.

4. In The Loop (2009) The perfect opening night film. A European premiere straight on the heels of Sundance and an amazing homecoming for Armando Iannucci and Peter Capaldi (right).

5. The Passion Of Joan Of Arc (2013) One of those one night only, goosebump moments with a live soprano accompanying the Carl Dreyer classic in the gorgeous setting of Glasgow Cathedral.
