Enough Said (12A)
This likable romantic comedy features one of the last performances by James Gandolfini before the actor died of heart failure this year. It's also one of his best - light years away from Tony Soprano. Gandolfini and Julia Louis-Dreyfus play divorcees who meet at a party and embark on a chalk-and-cheese relationship, obstructed from a surprising quarter. Writer/director Nicole Holofcener keeps jokes and true-to-life observations coming thick and fast, Louis-Dreyfus is hilarious as the hapless heroine and the bear-like Gandolfini exudes sweetness and decency.
Escape Plan (15)
Those pensionable action stars Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger team up for a tongue-in-cheek thriller set in a high-security prison, whose warden is played by Vinnie Jones, a hard man who makes the leads look like Olivier.
Prince Avalanche (15)
A buddy movie of a very different ilk, this unusual comedy pairs Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch as ill-matched Texas road-maintenance workers, who threaten to come to blows while working in the middle of nowhere.
