l Entries for this year's Bafta in Scotland New Talent awards must be submitted by Monday.

Students and emerging professionals in the moving image industry should submit first-time films, documentaries, animation, original music, entertainment programmes and games works for consideration.


l Whighams Jazz Club in Edinburgh has announced a special line-up for January 27. Acclaimed Paris-based English trumpeter Damon Brown will partner German baritone saxophonist Michel Lutzeier in the frontline of a quintet featuring Edinburgh pianist Paul Kirby, currently back on leave from his studies in New York, with bassist Martin Zenker and BBC Radio Big Band drummer Tom Gordon. Entrance is free and the music starts at 8pm.
