A Dangerous Game (PG)

A Dangerous Game (PG)

HHHH

Dir: Anthony Baxter

Runtime: 102 minutes

ANTHONY Baxter follows up You've Been Trumped, his look at The Donald's building of a golf course in Aberdeenshire, with another blistering documentary. Broadening out to take in course development across the world, Baxter assembles an impressive array of talking heads, including 30 Rock's Alec Baldwin, but the highlight has to be the sit-down with Donald Trump himself. A Dangerous Game shows Baxter safely ensconced in the Rory McIlroy league of filmmakers.

Cineworld and Picturehouse cinemas in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee, Perth, Falkirk and Aberfeldy.

The Guest (15)

HHH

Dir: Adam Wingard

With: Dan Stevens, Candice Patton

Runtime: 100 minutes

DOWNTON Abbey's Dan Stevens leaves cousin Matthew far behind for this genre-blending thriller by the writers-directors of You're Next. Stevens plays David, recently home from Iraq and keen to visit the still grieving family of a former brother-in-arms. He would like to pay his condolences, but is that all he wants? Stevens is a revelation in a film that keeps its tongue firmly in its cheek and largely gets away with it.

See The Herald tomorrow for an interview with Dan Stevens.

Sex Tape (15)

H

Dir: Jake Kasdan

With: Jason Segel, Cameron Diaz

Runtime: 94 minutes

IT IS probably a given that this comedy about a couple who film themselves having sex, only to have the tape find its way on to the internet, is charmless. That it should be laugh-free is more of a pain in the iPad. Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel take a very thin idea about a marriage in the sexual doldrums and try to stretch it from here to infinity. Only Apple, whose devices are plugged mercilessly throughout, could have a smile on its face after this.
