One of this summer's blockbusters, Marvel Avengers Assemble pits Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Captain America (Chris Evans), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) against Tom Hiddleston's Loki – and because four against one clearly isn't unfair enough, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner pitch in too as Black Widow and Hawkeye respectively. Lots of balls to juggle, but it's meat and drink for a director as steeped in Marvel lore as Joss Whedon.
