Dir: Doug Ellin

With: Adrian Grenier, Jeremy Piven

Runtime: 104 minutes

THE boys from the hit television series are back in town with a big screen spin-off. Vince (Adrien Grenier) is still the centre of his entourage's Hollywood world but now he wants a new baby - his own picture to direct. Can super agent Ari (Jeremy Piven), promoted to studio boss, make even this fantasy come true? Welcome to the usual testosterone-drenched blend of buddy banter and bikini-clad ladies, with few concessions to the big screen move other than running time. But as ever, Piven's professional blow-hard Ari is a gas to watch and saves the show.

Les Combattants (15)

Dir: Thomas Cailley

With: Adele Haenel, Kevin Azais

Runtime: 98 minutes

THOMAS Cailley's French drama is a tale of opposites attracting to gently comic effect. Arnaud is an easy-going sort who crosses paths with Madeleine, a young woman who could start a fight in an empty house. With Madeleine seeing no future for the world, this relationship could be heading nowhere fast. More drama than comedy, Cailley's picture has trouble settling on the right tone but finds its own sweet and low-down way eventually.

With: Guy Pearce, Cobie Smulders

Runtime: 102 minutes

TREVOR runs a gym in Texas. Kat is one of his instructors, while overweight Danny is out to transform his life now that he is in the money. Should be a menage a trois made in results heaven, if only all concerned were not as messed up as each other. Results is written and directed by Andrew "Mumblecore King" Bujalski (Mutual Appreciation) meaning it seems to be meandering all over the shop. If not a fan of the style, avoid. Otherwise, this hipster comedy drama offers a trio of engaging performances, from Guy Pearce as Trevor especially, and a few smiles besides.
