Former Doctor Who companion Frazer Hines has joined the cast of a new Scots indie romcom road movie.

Hines, who starred as Highlander Jamie McCrimmon alongside Patrick Troughton's Doctor in the 1960s, will appear in Journey Bound.

The film that tells the tale of a young lawyer chasing the love of his life through the Scottish Highlands.

Hines, who also starred in Emmerdale as Joe Sugden, will appear in the indie flick alongside Still Game star Ford Kiernan and Gregory's Girl actress Clare Grogan.

Award-winning cinematographer John Rhodes and musician Gordon Dougall are also working on the film.

A spokesperson for Journey Bound said: "Very pleased to announce tonight that renowned actor Frazer Hines best known for his role as Jamie in Doctor Who has joined the cast of Journey Bound."

Ryan Hendrick, the BAFTA nominated filmmaker who's producing the indie flick, added: "Frazer is so much fun. It only seems right to have him on board."
