HERE'S one to separate the fans of Leos Carax (Tokyo, The Lovers on the Bridge) from the not so enamoured. Carax regular Denis Lavant plays a character who travels around Paris like some French version of the Lincoln Lawyer. Except Lavant is playing an actor, who in turn is playing a near football team of various oddballs, including a beggar, an anxious dad, and a special effects actor. All achingly pretentious or super cool depending on your tolerance of such wannabe cult movies. The real interest is in the appearance of Kylie Minogue as an enigmatic blonde in a trenchcoat. Clearly, the cool Mr Carax is as enamoured of her as any fan.
