Wizards Vs Aliens: Series One (PG)

If you missed its CBBC run, here's a chance to catch up with the entire first series – 12 episodes in all – of Russell T Davies's kids' programme. The plot turns on 16-year-old Tom Clarke, a football-loving schoolboy who just happens to come from a family of wizards. When aliens land on earth, it's up to him to save the planet. There's a second series already commissioned, so plenty more where this came from.

The Dardenne Brothers Collection (15)

Six-disc set covering the six major works of Belgian brothers Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne, beginning with 1996's The Promise and ending with their 2011 Cannes Grand Prix winner The Kid With A Bike. You'd never describe their films as cheery, but that doesn't lessen their importance.

Berberian Sound Studio (15)

Shot in the same dun-coloured tones as Tomas Alfredson's Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and set in the same era, the mid-1970s, this acclaimed second feature from young British director Peter Strickland stars Toby Jones as a sound engineer slowly losing his mind as he works his sonic magic on a gruesome Italian horror film. Set almost entirely in the claustrophobic recording studio, it shows a Kafkaesque world in which the real and the imagined are hard to tell apart. Great stuff from a singular new talent.

You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet (PG)

Still going aged 90, august New Wave director Alain Resnais's latest film screened in competition at Cannes this year and takes as its inspiration two plays by Jean Anouilh: Eurydice and Cher Antoine. Quantum Of Solace baddie Mathieu Amalric features alongside Resnais regulars like Michel Piccoli, Sabine Azema and Pierre Arditi. Adding to the fun, they're all playing themselves in a strange, stagey meditation on love, life, death and regret.
