Thor:

The Dark World (12)

The sequel to 2011's Thor continues the stream of Marvel film adaptations, with Chris Hemsworth returning as the rugged, Scandi pin-up and Natalie Portman playing love interest Jane Foster. Kenneth Branagh cedes directorial duties to Game Of Thrones helmer Alan Taylor. As ever, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) steals the show. And the plot? Something about a portal opening up between Asgard and Earth - the usual Doomsday scenario. Out tomorrow.

The Killers (15)

Notable for giving Ronald Reagan his last screen role, Don Siegel's film was considered hard-hitting and violent in 1964, which commended it greatly to its star, Lee Marvin. He plays a hitman who after pumping bullets into an apparently innocent victim - John Cassavetes - looks into the man's background and finds a million dollar mail van robbery, a slippery ex-girlfriend (Angie Dickenson) and a vicious crime boss (Reagan). Naturally it doesn't end well for anyone. Out tomorrow.

This Is Jinsy: Series 2 (15)

Piloted on BBC Three but picked up by Sky Atlantic where it's slowly developing into a cult hit, this comedy series stars Chris Bran and Justin Chubb as residents of the fictional Channel Island of the title. A stellar cast - among them David Tennant, Stephen Fry, Olivia Colman, Harry Hill, Jennifer Saunders and Greg Davies - keeps it ticking along satisfyingly enough. Out tomorrow.

Five Films By Paolo Sorrentino (15)

A 12-year survey of the Italian master's work, beginning with his 2001 debut One Man Up and continuing through to 2013's The Great Beauty, his Berlusconi-baiting satire on modern-day Rome which won him the BAFTA for best foreign language film. Also included are The Family Friend, The Consequences Of Love and Il Divo, Sorrentino's study of the life of Italian politician Giulio Andreotti. A feast of European cinema: gobble it up. Out now.
