Dir:

Kevin Macdonald

With: Saoirse Ronan, George MacKay

Runtime: 101 minutes

NEW Yorker Daisy (Saoirse Ronan) has reluctantly come to naff old Britain for a holiday with her country cousins. Just when she starts to warm to the place, life is turned upside down by events out of their control. Adapted from Meg Rosoff's novel, Scots director Kevin Macdonald, pictured, has lost none of the book's heart or head, delivering a picture that's moving, impassioned and not a little terrifying. Add to this terrific performances from a young cast led by Ronan and George MacKay (Private Peaceful) and this is a drama that will impress teenagers and adults alike.
