They are the New Wave of Scotland’s film and TV actors.

We’ve put together a list of 50 young stars who’ve already taken their first steps in the profession and are aiming for the heights. They’re all under 30, were born or live in Scotland, and have at least one significant role to their credit already.

  • Name: Gordon McCorkell
  • Age: 29
  • From: Barrhead
  • Credits: Most famous as Deek Henderson in River City. He has also appeared in Still Game, Chewin’ the Fat, Jeopardy and Doctor Finlay.
  • Did you know: Gordon is a former member of Pace Youth Theatre, which has previously been attended by James McAvoy, Shauna MacDonald and Paolo Nutini.
  • Name: Jack McElhone
  • Age: 19
  • From: Glasgow
  • Credits: Most famous as Frankie in Dear Frankie. He has also appeared in Nowhere Boy, Young Adam, The Book Group and Stacked
  • Did you know: Jack was nominated for a Scottish Bafta for his role in Dear Frankie.
  • Name: Laura McMonagle
  • Age: 25
  • From: Glasgow
  • Credits: Most famous as Zoe Cullen in River City. She has also appeared in Being Victor, Lip Service, Ae Fond Kiss... and Stacey Stone.
  • Did you know: Laura was once the victim of a road rage attack whilst driving to the River City set with her boyfriend and his brother.
  • Name: Neil McNulty
  • Age: 27
  • From: Glasgow
  • Credits: Most famous as Fraser Crozier in River City. He has also appeared as Spencer Gibbs in Hustle, Paul Hardie in Taggart and Billy Campbell in The Bill.
  • Did you know: Neil is part of the judging panel for Miss Glasgow 2012.
