Her movie debut could easily have been overshadowed by the fact that she is the previously unknown little sister of former superstar poppets the Olsen twins. But while her family certainly became part of the story, it was her committed, award-worthy performance as a young woman struggling to rebuild her life after escaping from a cult, in the disturbing indie thriller Martha Marcy May Marlene, that grabbed people's attention. A gruelling horror movie, Silent House, in which she again played the lead, also screened in Aspen, confirmed her talent.
