Soul Searching: Melanie Hill

When I was seven ...

I was living with my grandparents in Sunderland. I remember eating these tiny, sweet strawberries my granddad grew in the back garden. One time his teeth came flying out of his mouth when he bit into an orange, which I found hilarious. My sister, my mum and I lived there for a few years while my dad was in the army. I have such fond memories of that time. Although my grandparents have since passed away I have been back to their house a couple of time. I knocked on the door and asked the people living there now if I could go and sit in the garden.
