Kevin Volans is keen to clarify a few things about his new symphony, subtitled Here comes the Alabama, which has been commissioned by the Edinburgh International Festival and will be premiered by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Robin Ticciati in the Usher Hall on Friday, August 27.
