A Scottish Songbook, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall

This was billed as bringing a wide range of artists together in order to sing songs composed by Scots since 1910, the idea being to place said artists outwith their comfort zone and see how they coped.

Given its potential to fall

completely flat, that it turned out so well was a personal triumph for musical directors Karine Polwart and Brian McAlpine.

There was a good mix of tunes and some of the younger talent on show was impressive.
