The Simon & Garfunkel Story tours Scotland this month to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the most successful folk-rock duo of all time recording their first no1 hit single, The Sound of Silence. Featuring singer-actor Dean Elliott, who plays Paul Simon having previous enjoyed success as Buddy Holly in the London West End run of the musical Buddy, and with the help of original photos and film footage, a cast of actor-musicians follows Simon & Garfunkel's career from their humble beginnings as rock n' roll duo Tom & Jerry, through massive success with hits including Mrs Robinson and Bridge Over Troubled Water and their dramatic break-up, finishing with a recreation of the 1981 Central Park reformation concert. New York-based actress, singer and songwriter Morgan James (pictured) plays two Scottish concerts this month as she tours the UK to mark the release of her debut album, Hunter. A successful performer on Broadway, James has appeared in The Addams Family with Nathan Lane as well as featuring in Wonderland, Godspell and Motown Records founder Berry Gordy's Motown The Musical, where she played former child star turned popular R&B singer Teena Marie. Following this production, Gordy was so impressed that he became instrumental in getting her a record deal. She plays the Old Fruitmarket, Glasgow on Tuesday, February 10 and Queen's Hall, Edinburgh on Wednesday, February 11. morganjamesonline.com

Sounds in the Suburbs continue to bring touring Americana and roots music attractions to Jordanhill. The promoters welcome Dumb Instrument and Les Johnson & Me to Woodend Bowling and Lawn Tennis Club on Thursday, February 19. The club is also the venue for Good Luck Mountain, led by former Tandy singer Mike Ferrio, on February 25, and hosts forthcoming visits by Silencers singer-songwriter JJ Gilmour, Christy Moore's touring partner, Declan Sinnott, New York-based folk-rock duo the Kennedys, Canadian singer-songwriter Miriam Jones, and the singer-songwriter and composer of Irish classic A Woman's Heart, Eleanor McEvoy.

Glasgow Americana promoters Fallen Angels Club have added singer-songwriter Josh Rouse to their forthcoming season of concerts. Nebraska-born Rouse, who now lives in Spain, returns to Glasgow after a three-year gap and plays Oran Mor on Wednesday April 29. Also appearing for Fallen Angels Club over the next few weeks are Virginia rockers Sons of Bill (Stereo, February 19); Nashville based Irish singer-songwriter Ben Glover (Admiral Bar, March 6); Gothic alt-country duo The Handsome Family (St Andrew's in the Square, March 11); and Arizona-born, Edinburgh-based singer and banjo picker, Cera Impala (Admiral Bar, March 31).
