Folklorist, singer, writer and broadcaster Margaret Bennett celebrates Bride or Bridget, the sixth century Irish saint with many Scottish links, in a special presentation at the Scottish Storytelling Centre in Edinburgh on Saturday at 1:30pm. St Bride was especially popular in the Hebrides but is also commemorated in Tomintoul, Dunnotar, Aberdeen and Edinburgh and Bennett, mother of the late musician and composer Martyn Bennett, will explore the many stories and rich folklore surrounding the saint in Gaelic and English. scottishstorytellingcentre.com

Glasgow's Tron Theatre will have the first look at a new production from Horsecross Arts in Perth and the Random Accomplice company which celebrates the pop fame of Sony and Cher through their biggest fans, Peter and Lily. And The Beat Goes On has been written by Stef Smith, famous for the Olivier Award-winning Roadkill, which she created with Cora Bissett. The play will be directed by Kenny Miller, associate director for theatre at Horsecross, and will play at Perth Concert Hall at the start of April following its Tron premiere in the last week of March. Random Accomplice's Johnny McKnight and Julie Brown (pictured) will be joined by Julie Wilson Nimmo for the production, which will then tour to The Beacon in Greenock, Aberdeen Lemon Tree, Eden Court, Inverness, Paisley Arts Centre, Gardyne Theatre, Dundee, and Stirling's Macrobert.
