Aberdeen-based jazz singer Mary May has a series of upcoming gigs to tie in with the release of her debut album, This is What You Are.

May, who made her first appearance on the Edinburgh Fringe last year and returns there this August, plays Moray Jazz Club, Elgin on Thursday, May 7 then Ferrybridge Hotel, Inverkeithing on Sunday, May 10, followed by Whighams Jazz Club, Edinburgh (June 7), Pitmedden Music Festival (June 13), and Cheers, Fraserburgh (June 20). www.marymayjazzsinger.com

Edinburgh's now fortnightly Playtime jazz session returns to the Outhouse in Broughton Street Lane this Thursday, when the core resident group visits the world of the theme tune.
