A new fund has been launched to offer grants of up of £1,000 to organisations and individuals involved in Scottish Traditional Arts.

The fund - Tasgadh - is managed by Fèisean nan Gàidheal and available to provide support for traditional artists and organisations to create, perform, tour and showcase work.

Professional development applications can also be supported though the fund.

The fund is now open with three deadline dates for applications during 2015-16, the first of those being July 3.

Singers Joe Aitken, Geordie Murison, Shona Donaldson and Emily Smith, fiddle virtuoso Paul Anderson and singer-songwriter-guitarist Rab Noakes (pictured) are among the attractions lined up for the Aberdeenshire village of Portsoy's 6th Haal from May 29-31. Local traditional singing legend, the late Jimmy MacBeath is remembered in several events and there are workshops, storytelling and poetry sessions, informal singarounds and instrumental sessions, blues and bluegrass and much, much more.

Stereo Cafe Bar in Glasgow hosts Glasgow's Independent Record Label Market on the afternoon of Saturday May 30, from noon to 5pm. Holy Smokes, Olive Grove, El Rancho, Scotch Bonnet, Big Rock Candy, New Year, Try Ya Luck and Dead Beet are just some of the bijou boutique operations in a day celebrating the smallest indies sound curators, with 'zines and some live music on the side. The live sets come from Mungo's Hi-Fi, Kenni Campbell (That Sinking Feeling). The Great Albatross and The Strange Blue Dreams amongst others. Admission is free.
