Extra tour dates
Scottish band The View has announced new tour dates. The band will perform at Edinburgh's HMV Picture House on August 31 as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and at Perth Concert Hall on September 6. Tickets for these shows go on sale on Friday.

Jazzed up for festival
The Rio Cafe's Mark Robb has launched new pop-up venture The Rio Club in association with the Glasgow Jazz Festival 2012. The Rio Club will combine local and international jazz, funk, soul and comedy acts and will take place from June 29 – July 1 in Merchant Square, Glasgow. The line-up will include DJ Craig Charles from the BBC6 Music Funk and Soul Show and comedian Des Clarke.

Transatlantic Tommy
Scottish saxophonist Tommy Smith is playing gigs in America and Canada later this month. Smith, who released album Karma in 2011 on Spartacus Records, draws on influences from around the world to create his unique blend of jazz. Smith will be accompanied by bass guitar player Kevin Glasgow and drummer Alyn Cosker for these concerts.

Playing for laughs
Comedy venue The Stand will host a special programme this weekend, to tie in with Glasgow's West End Festival. Comedian Zoe Lyons, as seen on TV in BBC2's Mock the Week, will feature on the line-up, alongside Nathan Caton. Actor, writer and comedian Billy Kirkwood will be the compere.
