l The 13th Note in Glasgow is hosting a fundraiser for Glasgow band The Cosmic Dead on Wednesday.
The band, with a sound described as space rock, is raising funds to record a new album. Playing alongside them at the gig will be Headless Kross, Undulating Gland and Giblets of Yesterday.

l The Royal Glasgow Institute gallery in Glasgow has announced that the auction house Lyon & Turnbull is donating a new £1000 prize, to be awarded at their 151st Open Annual Exhibition. The Lyon & Turnbull Prize means there are now 21 prizes awarded annually at the show.

l Eastgate Arts centre in Peebles will host the talk In the Footsteps of Bonnie Prince Charlie on August 9. Jimmie Macgregor will talk about the prince's journey while on the run after the battle of Culloden in 1746. Macgregor re-traced the prince's journey.

l A new exhibition of paintings by Alex Girdwood and Dennis McCallum opens in Castle Douglas Art Gallery on August 8. The exhibition, Making Our Marks, features some paintings done with oil paints that belonged to lauded artist Charles Oppenheimer.
