Renowned former Lionel Hampton and Les Paul pianist John Colliani is playing Whighams in Edinburgh on Sunday. He will be accompanied by Dave Swanson on drums and Ricky Steele on double bass, while special guest Freddie King will provide vocals.

Crime shortlist
The shortlist for the first ever Bloody Scotland Scottish Crime Book of the Year has been announced. Six of Scotland's top crime writers have been shortlisted, including Charles Cumming, Craig Russell, Denise Mina, Peter May, Philip Kerr and Will Jordan. The winner will be announced on September 16 at Bloody Scotland, Scotland's first International Crime Writing Festival.

Rankin is charity host
The charity The Muscle Help Foundation is hosting its first Scottish fundraising event tonight at the Ghillie Dhu in Edinburgh. Ian Rankin will be the host for an evening of ceilidh music, a buffet, a charity raffle and a book signing. Proceeds raised will help fund four Scottish children with muscular dystrophy travel to London to spend a day watching the Paralympics.
