Hosted by the band Blazin' Fiddles, the event is held, as you might guess, in Beauly, near Inverness. This year guest fiddle tutors Adam Sutherland and Gillian Frame will lead special classes.

Mor songs by Matheson
Singer Karen Matheson will play Glasgow's Oran Mor tonight, accompanied by her band featuring James Grant, Donald Shaw, and Ewen Vernal. Widely known as the singer of Celtic super-group Capercaillie, Matheson's career has stretched over 20 years of recording and performing worldwide.

The 2012 Lammermuir Festival will run from September 14 to 24. The theme is beautiful music in beautiful places and gigs will be held in picturesque venues across East Lothian. A highlight is a concert held in the ruins of Tantallon Castle in North Berwick on September 17.

Working a six-day week
Casting has been announced for the tour of the new musical production of Dolly Parton's 9 To 5, which will come to the Edinburgh Playhouse later this year. The show, which will run at the Playhouse from November 26 until December 1, will feature a cast including Natalie Casey, Jackie Clune and Bonnie Langford.

Launch for scholarship
The University of the West of Scotland has announced that its new MA Songwriting and Performance programme, which gets under way at its Ayr campus this September, will be accompanied by the launch of a Gerry Rafferty scholarship. The scholarship, which will be funded by Renfrewshire Council, is in the name of the late Scottish singer/songwriter and producer Gerry Rafferty. It provides one funded place on the new course.
