Hosted by the band Blazin' Fiddles, the event is held, as you might guess, in Beauly, near Inverness. This year guest fiddle tutors Adam Sutherland and Gillian Frame will lead special classes.

Working a six-day week

Casting has been announced for the tour of the new musical production of Dolly Parton's 9 To 5, which will come to the Edinburgh Playhouse later this year. The show, which will run at the Playhouse from November 26 until December 1, will feature a cast including Natalie Casey, Jackie Clune and Bonnie Langford.

Launch for scholarship

The University of the West of Scotland has announced that its new MA Songwriting and Performance programme, which gets under way at its Ayr campus this September, will be accompanied by the launch of a Gerry Rafferty scholarship. The scholarship, which will be funded by Renfrewshire Council, is in the name of the late Scottish singer/songwriter and producer Gerry Rafferty. It provides one funded place on the new course.
