l Having spent the summer in the studio working on his band's third album, Glasvegas front man James Allan has announced a string of dates by the band in December.

The tour kicks off in Manchester and Newcastle on December 2 and 3 before five Scottish dates: Inverness Ironworks on December 5, Aberdeen Garage on December 6, Glasgow Garage on December 8, Dundee Fat Sams on December 9 and The Venue, Dumfries on December 10.

l Sean Shibe, who has moved to Graz in Austria for his masters degree studies following his performances solo and with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra at the Lammermuir Festival, has been named as one of latest group of BBC New Generation Artists. Shibe is the first classical guitarist to be featured in the scheme and the first Scot since pianist Steven Osborne in 1999.

l Robbie Williams releases a new single Candy on October 29. Not a Paolo Nutini cover, it was co-written by Williams and his Take That bandmate Gary Barlow and concerns a girl who is "a bit nefarious in her ways" according to the singer. His album Take The Crown follows on November 5.

l The Glasgow Society of Women Artists has opened a new exhibition at the Lillie Art Gallery in Milngavie. The show runs to November 9 and includes painting, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, glass and jewellery.

l Nina Nesbitt is an 18-year-old singer-songwriter from Balerno who came to the attention of Ed Sheeran via her performances on YouTube and was invited to join him on tour. She is now signed to Island Records and has released her debut single, Boy. She kicks of a seven-date tour at Oran Mor, Glasgow, tomorrow, followed by dates across Scotland.
