l The RSNO's St Andrew's Night concert at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Friday has a veritable showcase of traditional music talent this year.

Alongside regular hosts, accordionist Phil Cunningham and fiddler Aly Bain and the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland, there will be appearances by vocalist Julie Fowlis, more celebrated than ever after her appearance on the soundtrack of Brave, fiddler Duncan Chisholm, a Bank of Scotland Herald Angel Winner in Edinburgh this year, and guitarist Tony Byrne. Overseeing the event will be conductor and composer John Logan, formerly a horn player with the orchestra.

l A recording of the orchestral works of Claude Debussy for the Chandos label by the RSNO under former music director Stephane Deneve has won France's Diapason d'Or de l'Annee, the top award from the country's leading music magazine. It is the second of the annual awards that the team has secured, after the 2007 prize for a Naxos label disc of works by Albert Roussel.

l Glasgow's Creeping Bent Organisation has organised events around the talents of former Subway Sect vocalist and sometime postman Vic Godard this weekend. On Saturday night he will be performing with Davy Henderson's latest band Sexual Objects at Stereo in Renfield Lane, doors 8pm.

On Sunday afternoon, Godard will be accompanied by a stellar collective of Scots musicians of the post-punk era at the Poetry Club at SWG in Finnieston.

That evening he will be introducing a screening of Jean Luc Godard's Pierrot Le Fou at Glasgow Film Theatre, followed by a Q&A hosted by Stephen Pastel. An attractive 1960s vintage coach will depart the Monorail record store at King's Court at 3pm for Sunday's events, which will include afternoon tea.
