Hard Rock Couture, a touring exhibition of clothing and memorabilia worn by rock and pop stars, will go on show at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall from August 16-25.

Among the iconic items are Michael Jackson's red jacket from the Beat It music video, Madonna's gold corset designed by Jean Paul Gaultier, a black and white spandex catsuit worn by Freddie Mercury on Queen's 1978 Jazz tour, and Lady Gaga's Oscar Lima black dress. Entry to the exhibition will be free.

Boy George, who topped the charts with Culture Club and as a solo artist back in the 1980s, will play King Tut's in Glasgow on November 7 as part of a UK tour. This Is What I Do, his forthcoming album (and first studio album of original material for almost two decades), will be released later this year. Tickets for the King Tut's gig, priced £25, go on sale on Friday from www.livenation.co.uk/artist/boy-george-tickets and www.ticketmaster.co.uk.

Classic movie fans following the Richard Fleischer retrospective currently on show at the Edinburgh International Film Festival should note that the final three films in the series will screen after EIFF closes at Filmhouse in July. It's hoped that Armored Car Robbery (July 2, 6.30pm), Violent Sunday (July 4, 6.15pm) and The Vikings (July 7, 6pm) will be introduced by EIFF artistic director Chris Fujiwara.

As a singer best known for covering Dolly Parton's Jolene, Nashville-based Long Islander Mindy Smith, who returns to Glasgow next week, might not be an obvious connection with Glasgow Jazz Festival, which opens today.

But the link is there on Smith's self-titled latest album in the shape of Cure For Love, a song written with one of the stars of the first-ever Glasgow Jazz Festival, the late Sarah Vaughn, in mind.

"I went through a period where I was so obsessed with Sarah Vaughn," says Smith. "I would've hoped that she wanted to sing it. That's exactly what was going on in my thought process as I wrote it. I think it's important to change your perspective, just like as a visual artist I've learned you need to exercise your skills. Maybe it's not comfortable for you to do chalk drawings, but do it anyway."

Smith appears at St Andrew's in the Square, Glasgow, on July 3.
