Stirling Folk Club has announced its latest programme in the run-up to a special fiftieth anniversary celebration on October 12. The club, which meets every Monday in Stirling Rugby Club, has still confirm all the guests due to appear on the half-centenary concert but will host Ayrshire-born Canadian singer-songwriter David Francey on August 26, the long established pairing of Burns interpreter Ian Bruce and singer-songwriter Ian Walker on September 2, and the much-loved singer and fiddler from the north-east of England Tom McConville on September 9.
Texas-born singer-songwriter Katy Moffatt returns to Scotland for gigs in Rothesay, Falkirk, Wick, Orkney, Glenfarg, Glasgow and Edinburgh between August 28 and September 4. Moffatt, who clocked up road miles with Willie Nelson and legendary songwriter Hoyt Axton during a spell as a much-in-demand backing vocalist, has been touring her stylistically wide ranging one-woman show, Midnight Radio, in the US and will feature songs from this and her seventeen-to-date solo albums on tour.
