Lottery boost extends Big Big Sing UK-wide

The Big Big Sing, one of the highlights of the Glasgow 2014 Cultural Programme, will now be a UK-wide event. Big Big Sing aims to inspire thousands of people to take up singing prior to and during the Games, and will now extend across the UK due to almost £500,000 funding from the Big Lottery fund. It is now one of six UK projects set to share more than £5m from the Keeping The Spirit Of 2012 Alive campaign.

Svend Brown, director of Big Big Sing, welcomed the award of £487,855.

New heritage trail for Ayrshire

A new collection of art installations will create a heritage trail for the local communities of Carrick, Ayrshire.

Carrick has a rich history and the new project aims to increase awareness of the area. The first of the project's installations will be revealed in Maybole, where six etched stainless-steel panels in the shape of boots will mark the old locations of the shoe factories that dominated the area during the 19th century. The new panels will be unveiled at the official launch event tomorrow.
