Leading players are set to 'Pipe Up' at concert
A number of the world's leading pipers appear at a concert in the Town House at Haddington, East Lothian on Saturday, April 26.
The concert - called 'Piping Up' - has been organised by Haddington Pipe Band in partnership with Cairdeas nam Piobairean, an initiative led by legendary piper and pipe maker Hamish Moore.
Roddy MacLeod MBE, a four-times Glenfiddich Piping Championships winner and principal of the National Piping Centre in Glasgow, joins Cape Breton-born Skye resident Angus Mackenzie, Gaelic music specialists Allan Macdonald and Griogair Labhruidh, and young piping ensemble Seudan onstage in a programme that begins with Haddington Pipe Band playing outside the Town House.

Lee swings it to play library gig
Saxophonist Dick Lee squeezes a gig with his Swingtet at the Old Library, Kilbarchan this Thursday into a busy schedule.
Lee is also involved in light-hearted lectures on the history of jazz and preparation for a Commonwealth Games project for one of his dozen or so other bands, Dr Lee's Prescription at Kelvingrove Park, Glasgow in July.
His Swingtet specialises in delivering the gypsy swing repertoire of Django Reinhardt, as well as Lee's similarly swinging melodic compositions in an accessible, spontaneous style.

Scots concerts for guitar greats
Over a single weekend in May promoter David Mundell is presenting two of the greats of the electric guitar at the Green Hotel, Kinross.
John Jorgensen has been a sideman to Elton John, Luciano Pavarotti, Bonnie Raitt, Billy Joel, Bob Dylan and Sting, as well as leading his own showcase trio, The Hellecasters.
He plays on Thursday May 15 and Sunday May 18.
Albert Lee, who is now 70 years of age, is probably best known for his stint in the Hot Band of Emmylou Harris, where he replaced James Burton, when Burton resumed pickin' duties for Elvis Presley.
He and Hogan's Heroes are Back Stage in Kinross on May 16, 17 and 19.

Osborne date is next month
Fans of pianist Steven Osborne may have been confused to read in Saturday's Herald Arts that his return to the City Halls to resume his cycle of Beethoven Piano Concertos with the BBC SSO and Andrew Manze is on June 15.
It is, of course, on Thursday May 15 that he plays Concerto No 1 as part of the concluding concert of the orchestra's season, alongside Vaughan Williams' Sea Symphony with the Edinburgh Festival Chorus and soloists Elizabeth Watts and Mark Stone. Manze and Osborne return in March 2015 to perform the Second Piano Concerto.
