AlunaGeorge are Londoners Aluna Francis and George Reid and their presence at number two on the BBC's Sound Of 2013 list has made them an electronic pop duo to watch.

So has White Noise, their near-chart topping collaboration with another fast-rising electro-pop act, Disclosure.

Producer Reid takes his lead and some of his creative energy from dubstep – particularly noticeable on the playful Lost And Found – though he keeps the influence to a minimum here, and throws in enough soul and disco flourishes to keep it all eminently radio-friendly. Francis, meanwhile, flits between a cute London demotic and a neutral, Kylie-esque singing voice and is at her best on downtempo tracks like first single Your Drums and the title track, Body Music.

What's best about this debut is that it seems like a genuinely collaborative effort. Francis is the upfront face of the band but Reid is far from anonymous – his pleasingly intrusive production style and music-making means the songs are peppered with time-stretched vocal samples and tempo-disrupting synth stabs. Not exactly the sound of 2013, but if you've ever wondered what The XX would sound like after a few strong toots of laughing gas, this is it.
