An eye-catching name is always a plus for a band, and Lovers Turn To Monsters is certainly that.
So it was a shame that Kyle Wood's set seemed so beset by disaster it wouldn't have been a surprise if it had ended with Godzilla stomping on the stage. Wood, the sole member of Lovers, cut a lonely figure as he battled with, variously, a microphone, a missing plectrum and a banjo string breaking mid-song. His songs and voice lacked sufficient ramshackle charm to save matters.
