Girls Aloud, SECC, Glasgow

HHHH

Rare is the pop gig where children are very much the minority. However, Girls Aloud clocking up a decade in music ensured that it was adults screaming loudest as the fivesome appeared, perched atop a sparkly sign above the crowd. If the girls were perhaps once positioned as cool big sisters for teenage fans, now the vibe is mates on a raucous night out, and only the Spice Girls in recent memory have so successfully translated such a united girl-gang-against-the-world feeling to the stage. Cheryl Cole got the most screams, though the vocal heavy lifting often fell to Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts.
