Local high fidelity audio equipment emporium Loud And Clear will be supplying a Linn Sondek LP12 turntable and matching amplification from the same local manufacturer for the playback of Electric Ladyland, the third and final album from the original Jimi Hendrix Experience line-up.
The session begins at 5.30pm on October 13 in the Berkeley Suite, North Street, with music that inspired Hendrix. The needle goes down on Electric Ladyland at 7.30pm. Tickets are £6.
timed to coincide with the release of her new album, Tales Of Us, on Monday, Alison Goldfrapp has been named by The Lowry in Salford, Greater Manchester, as the first Performer As Curator to take charge of the venue's exhibition space.
She will draw on national and international collections for her show, which opens on October 19 and runs to next March. Painting, film, photography and illustration will feature in the exhibition.
Author Kirsty Gunn, who is Professor Of Creative Writing at Dundee University, has won the Top Book prize in the New Zealand Post Book Awards for her novel The Big Music.
The awards are made in four categories, with the winners in each then being pitted against one another for the title of Top Book.
Her novel is the first fiction winner since 2009 and judges said it was "the book of her career". It tells of the last days of John Sutherland, who is composing the piece of music that will define his life.
