The MTV Europe Music Awards have come to a close at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow.
The awards, which are in their 20th year, ended in spectacular style with Slash and Simon Neil of Biffy Clyro performing Ozzy Osbourne's Crazy Train as a tribute to the Prince of Darkness, who was named the EMAs Global Icon earlier in the evening.
Surrounded by a troupe of dancers, host Nicki Minaj kicked off the show at the £125m venue, which was filled with inflatable planets and a Tyrannosaurus Rex to tie in with this year's time travelling theme, before Ariana Grande, who picked up two awards including best female, launched into the first performance of the night with a rendition of Break Free.
Grande also took the first awards of the night, beating Katy Perry, Eminem, Sam Smith and Pharrell Williams to take the gong for best song.
Accepting the award, Grande said: "Thank you so much, this means so much, I can't thank everyone who has supported me enough."
Minaj, who made eight costumes changes during her hosting stint, was keen to embrace all things Scottish during the show and even performed a specially written rap, telling fans: "It's so great to be here in Scotland the brave. I've been learning about your culture and I'm practically Scottish now" before singing the Proclaimers' 500 Miles.
The American rapper even gave Katy Perry a "special Glasgow kiss", blowing a kiss at the video screen as the pop singer, who is currently touring Australia, accepted her award for Best Look.
Perry said: "I'd like to thank my mum and dad for giving me this look and my make-up artists. I don't wake up looking like this as you know, you've got the internet."
One Direction were the big winners on the night, collecting three awards. Accepting their gong for Best Pop via video link, the group said: "Thanks so much for voting for us. Unfortunately we can't be there but thank you so much."
The group were not the only winners unable to attend the show, with Katy Perry (Best video and Best look), 30 Seconds to Mars (best alternative) and Five Seconds of Summer (Best New) all accepting their awards via video messages.
Scot Calvin Harris, who picked up Best Electronic, had been due to perform at the show but was forced to pull out for health reasons.
Despite the lack of winners in attendance on the night, the show was filled with an array of stand-out performances by Ed Sheeran, Enrique Iglesias, Charli XCX, Royal Blood, U2 and the Minaj, who, surrounded by underwear clad dancers, played an exclusive compilation of her hits Super Bass and Anaconda.

However, the big award of the night was Global Icon, with Ozzy Osbourne taking this year's trophy.
Presenting the award, guitar legend Slash said: "For four decades the Prince of Darkness has rocked anyone who dared to listen.
"This is a guy who does not know how to do ordinary. He scares the hell out of most people and all bats. But to me is a gentle man and a gentleman."
Osbourne, who unlike last year's winner Eminem, did not perform at the show, said: "I don't know where they got this icon s*** from but it's good to be here tonight. God bless you all, thank you for coming."
David Hasselhoff helped Ariana Grande rounded off her fantastic evening, presenting her with the award for Best Female.
Accepting the award, Grande, who was nominated for six gongs, said: "Thank you so much, this is absolutely crazy. I also just want to say thank you to MTV's production crew. I don't think the people at home realise how difficult it is to put on a show like this seamlessly."
Bringing the show to a close, Minaj thanked Glasgow for putting on such a good event, before revealing that Milan will be next year's host city.
