Flautist Shona Brown has released the third recording in her 10 in 10 series.
A double A sided single, the latest release, Haar/Solas, features Brown, who also sings, plays keyboards and creates electronic loops, working with samples, one of Hebridean Gaelic psalm singing and the other of sounds from nature. With 10 in 10, Brown has challenged herself to release ten recordings in ten months, with each release coming on the 10th of the month. As well as creating her own music, Brown has worked with saxophonist-flautist Barbara Thompson, whose band Paraphernalia was a major draw on the UK jazz scene for many years and whose compositions have included the music for the television detective series A Touch of Frost.
