Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime Kings Theatre, Edinburgh

At last! A rendering of Oscar Wilde on the commercial touring circuit that attempts to do something other than look like a well-dressed museum piece. Sort of.

Because, while Christopher Luscombe’s bright-as-a-button production of Wilde’s 1891 comic thriller miniature takes a step beyond heritage industry chic, it’s hardly the gay fantasia of Matthew Bourne’s Dorian Gray either.
