A new impact study of the value of some of Edinburgh's cultural institutions has found they generate £194m for the Scottish economy.

The Edinburgh Cultural Venues Group (ECVG) is a consortium of the city's publicly funded cultural organisations, which came together in 2013.

The group includes the Filmhouse, Festival City Theatres Trust (the Festival and King's Theatres), National Museums Scotland, the Queen's Hall, the Royal Lyceum Theatre, the Traverse Theatre, the Usher Hall, and the National Galleries of Scotland.

The Impact Study funded by Scottish Enterprise said the group generate 5,000 full time jobs.

There are 6.2 million visits to the arts venues collectively, 1,600 events and productions - with over 6,100 individual performances.

Scotland's oldest film office, Film Edinburgh, celebrates 25 years as a regional film office this month.

Since its conception, it says has dealt with over 8,000 enquires, converting into more than 4,000 productions filming in the city and surrounding area.

The total economic impact for the city is estimated to be worth in excess of £65 million.

Founded in late April 1990 as The Edinburgh and Lothian Screen Industries Office, it was the second film office to open in the UK after only Liverpool, which was set up to support the filming of Channel 4's soap, Brookside.
