Write moves

Ambassador Theatre Group is hosting a new nationwide writing project as part of the London 2012 Festival, the 12-week nationwide arts celebration running from June 21 until September 9. Playwright Ursula Rani Sarma has been commissioned to write The Ripple Effect, will be premiered in different parts of the UK, including Glasgow, simulaneously, and will culminate in a gala performance in London's West End. Sarma will work closely with young people from diverse backgrounds who have limited arts experience.

Tinderbox date

THE Tinderbox 50-piece orchestra and 30-piece choir will perform a one-off show at Edinburgh's Queen's Hall on June 23, alongside music acts Broken Records, North Atlantic Oscillation and G-Code.

The show will feature on-stage collaborations between the bands and the orchestra, as well as a number of original compositions written by the orchestra itself.

The bands will also perform their own material. Filmmakers from the Hidden Door Arts Collective have put together a video-visual package including 5 simultaneous projections VJ'd live, to synchronise with the music.

The concert is the culmination of months of preparation, involving more than 200 musicians, composers, bands, artists and filmmakers from around Edinburgh.
