Funny choice
FUNNY'S Funny has announced the results of its annual search for the funniest female comedian. Winner Sam Savage was chosen after a nationwide talent search involving 250 entrants. Funny's Funny will be putting on shows featuring the winners and finalists during the Edinburgh Fringe next month.

Troon date
THE Troon Art Club summer exhibition will open on July 31 in St Meddan's Church Hall. The club was founded in 1949 and has more than 140 members. The exhibition will feature more than 200 paintings, most of which are for sale.

Tindall tours
SINGER-SONGWRITER Tish Tindall's UK tour to promote dementia awareness kicks off this week, with gigs in Glasgow and Edinburgh. The tour begins at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow on Thursday, before moving to the Radisson Blu hotel in Edinburgh.

Last again
The BBC Proms Last Night Celebrations in Scotland will return to Glasgow on September 8. Pianist Joanna MacGregor, pictured, saxophonist Tommy Smith and soprano Carolyn Sampson will join the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and conductor Stephen Bell at Glasgow's City Halls for an evening of music with a distinctive jazz influence.

Musical returns
Popular musical comedy Hairspray will come to The Edinburgh Playhouse for a limited run in September. Mark Benton will star as family matriarch Edna Turnblad.
