Comedian Ross Noble, pictured, will return to Edinburgh with a performance at the Playhouse on November 1. His career spans an impressive 21 years in stand-up comedy and he returns with his first UK show in two years, Mindblender.

Taste of paradise
The major summer exhibition at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, Paradise Restored, explores the relationship between people and plants in varying environments in south-west Asia, from Turkey to Afghanistan. The exhibition features images which reflect the culture, landscapes and plants from this diverse region.

That's sweet
Glam rock bands Slade and Sweet are teaming up for a UK tour in November and December. The tour includes dates at Glasgow, Aberdeen and Dundee on December 12, 13 and 14 respectively. The tour will feature original Slade founders Dave Hill and Don Powell alongside current Slade members John Berry and Mal McNulty. Sweet will also have a new line-up featuring founder member Andy Scott.

Murder mystery
Casting has been announced for the 60th anniversary tour of Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap, which comes to Glasgow's Theatre Royal from September 17-22. The cast will include actors Steven France, Thomas Howes, Bruno Langley and Jemma Walker, with Jan Waters reprising her West End role as Mrs Boyle. The classic murder mystery play is now in its 60th year in London's West End.

Reeling them in
Cafebarge at Tarbert, Loch Fyne, has announced that its 2nd Annual 16mm Film Festival will take place from August 10-12, when 16mm prints of classic films will be shown in the salon of this 1920s Dutch barge. The programme includes a special evening of surreal and avant-garde silent films with live musical accompaniment from Kate Ledger and Iain Harrison.

Festival fever
BBC ALBA will broadcast a series of live and exclusive programmes covering the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival this weekend. Fiona MacKenzie, Niall Iain MacDonald and Sarah Cruickshank will present two special live shows from the festival on Friday and Saturday, and a show featuring festival highlights will be screened on Sunday evening. Bands featured will include Travis, The Wombats and Frightened Rabbit.
