l HAPPILY paving the way for the Festival of Silent Cinema at Bo'ness Hippodrome the following week, and pre-empting the furore that is sure to erupt when the Baz Luhrman's new movie of F Scott Fitzgerald's novel is released, Glasgow's 1920s-themed Gatsby Club has another glamourous evening scheduled for Saturday March 9.
As well as music from the Black Diamonds Havana Band and DJ Lord Holyrude and cocktails like the period tincture Harvey Wallbanger at bargain prices, the organisers promise An Evening of Slapstick, both live on stage as part of a cabaret that also includes singing, dancing, burlesque and comedy and on celluloid in the screening room. The venue is Glasgow University Union and tickets are £14 (£12 concessions).
