Fringe Q&As: Henry Paker

Henry Paker speaks to HeraldScotland about playing volleyball with Lenny Henry, bees and running up Arthur's Seat.

Tell us about your Fringe show

I go through a box of stuff from my childhood which my parents asked me to take off their hands. It's live decluttering.

Best thing about the Fringe?

My show.

Worst thing about the Fringe?

Other shows.

Favourite Fringe venue?

Pleasance Bunker, where I'm performing. I often feel like Hitler in the last days of the Reich...holding forth in front of a small group of people who are rapidly losing faith in him. However...it has air con.

Best Fringe memory?

Playing volleyball with Lenny Henry

Best heckle?

A woman in Amersham just loudly made the noise of the X factor buzzer. She didn't even need language to destroy me.

Craziest on stage experience?

Bee in the microphone.

What's on your rider?

Mango batons.

How do you wind down after a show?

What do you love about Scotland?

The sense that this is where any dream can come true...as long as you believe.

What do you like about Edinburgh?

Running up Arthur's Seat

What's the most Scottish thing you've done?

I once fell asleep in an alley.

What kind of jokes do a Scottish crowd seem to respond to?

Funny ones. The Scottish are much like people all over the world.

Favourite joke?

It's half way through my show, come and see it and find out.

Henry Paker is his show Unpacked until 24th August at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival at the Pleasance Bunker. For more information visit The Pleasance website.
