Judy Murray is preparing to swap her tennis racquet for dancing shoes after being confirmed for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Murray announced her involvement in the show on Twitter.

She said: "I'm a huge Strictly Come Dancing fan but a total armchair dancer. It's going to be a big challenge for me and for whoever has to dance with me but I absolutely can't wait to get started!"

Born in Bridge of Allan, Murray qualified as a tennis coach aged 17 and went on to become the eighth best tennis player in the UK.

She is a self-confessed Strictly fan and is mum to 2013 Wimbledon champion Andy Murray and Wimbledon Doubles champion Jamie.
